UNDIP Alumni Helps SNMPTN Student Scholarships

New students who are accepted through the 2018 SNMPTN will be awarded scholarships for those who are economically disadvantaged. This scholarship is given by Undip alumni as a form of concern for new students who have academic abilities but are economically deemed less able. This was conveyed by Undip Vice Chancellor I for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Zaenuri in the Meeting Room of Tembalang Undip Campus Rector, Tuesday (8/5). The scholarship program, in addition to being attended by the Dean and Undip structural officials, was also attended by Undip partner banks that would channel scholarship funds.

In his remarks that this year Undip received 2,929 new students on the SNMPTN track from 61,531 registrants, including 836 Bidik Misi students. The problem faced by Undip, many students who are academically capable but constrained by limited funds, especially those who come from economically disadvantaged families. The budget that is intended for Bidik Misi students cannot cover other students who are also economically disadvantaged. On the other hand, the membership of Undip is very limited, so this encourages Undip to make breakthroughs and creativity so that it can help and help the student. "We are trying to find a breakthrough and seek help for them. Alhamdulillah, from Undip alumni are able to help provide scholarships, even though they are selective only given to those who really need it, ”explained the former dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences.

Furthermore, said Prof. Zaenuri that this scholarship is given to students whose parents' income is less than the Regional Minimum Wage (UMR), and will be evaluated by the dean every 6 months, whether academically and needs are still worthy of receiving or should be given to other students who are more need. "At this time we will give 7 new student representatives from the faculties of Engineering, Psychology, Medicine and the Faculty of Science and Mathematics" concluded Zaenuri.
